The conference in Bielsko-Biała is behind us.
On September 18, 2024, a conference entitled “Investing in the future – developing the competencies of high school students” was held in Bielsko-Biala, organized by the Academy of Applied Sciences in Bielsko-Biala and Syntea S.A.
The conference was opened by the Rector of the Academy of Applied Sciences in Bielsko-Biała (ANSBB) Dr. Jacek Binda, Prof. ANSBB, and Paweł Chudy, Vice President of the Management Board of Syntea S.A. The opening ceremony was further honored by a congratulatory letter from the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, read by Ms. Katarzyna Twardzik, Councillor of the Silesian Voivodeship Assembly.
The event inaugurated the EU project titled “Supporting the development of future competencies among high school students in the Tychy and Bielsko subregion,” implemented by ANSBB in partnership with Syntea S.A.. The aim of the project is to prepare 500 high school students to study majors that train specialists to work in the modern business services sector in Silesia.
“(…) If at the end of the educational process, a high school student will be able to receive a certificate confirming his competence, and this certificate will be accepted by future employers, this is his greatest reward for the effort he has put into the process of his education.” – said Jacek Binda, Ph.D., Professor of ANSBB, Rector of ANSBB.
During the conference we also listened to a number of inspiring speeches from our speakers. The first speaker was Ms. Agnieszka Herma – Head of the Department of Education and Sports at the Bielsko-Biała City Council, who shared her insights on the importance of the project in the context of building human resources for the NUB sector in Silesia. We then listened to a speech by school principals who talked about the qualifications of the MCC and their advantage in curriculum development. For excellent lectures in this regard, we thank Ms. Elżbieta Urbańska-Golec – Director of ZS No. 1 in Wieluń and Ms. Beata Kołodziejczyk – Director of Maria Skłodowska-Curie Technical School No. 4 in Bytom. Tomasz Kot – Software Development Competency Center Director, Billennium S.A. spoke last in this part of the conference, talking about the shortage of candidates with a wide range of competencies in the NUB sector
After a short break, we saw, among other things, a demonstration of virtual reality, which can be an interesting addition to the didactic process. An element of gamification was also presented, as well as a way to confirm the acquired competencies in the form of digital micro-certifications.
“Now in the 21st century, where new technologies have become available very widely, both to young people and to schools and educational institutions that educate young people, a very demanding market has forced an increase and search for educational solutions that reduce this time and increase efficiency, and as a result confirm the competencies acquired by the graduates of these courses, in this case high school students, at a level acceptable to the market. Hence VR. This new technology has become a reality, and so this reality is what we are trying to use to accelerate and increase the efficiency of education ,” added Jacek Binda, Ph.D., Professor of ANSBB, Rector of ANSBB.
The conference was held under the honorary patronage of Piotr Saługa – Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Jarosław Klimaszewski – Mayor of the City of Bielsko-Biała, the Silesian Board of Education and the Sectoral Competence Council for Modern Business Services.
